Celebrating His Continued Favor

Laila and I want to say "Thank you" on behalf of our family. This coming Sunday we will begin our 37th year of serving you. Our greatest joy is to walk in unity with you allowing the Holy Spirit to work in and through us as we labor for Our Lord's Church.
This past Sunday we celebrated by receiving new members.
Two Kenyans
Two Congolese
One Indonesian
One blended African American/Caucasion
Two Caucasians
After worship Service: One African American, one Caucasian, two Indonesians and four Congolese shared their desire to participate in membership orientation!
Diversity at Covenant is defined as an open door for every person to approach the cross and become a born-again child of God (whom the son hath set free is free indeed John 8:36). We are one at the cross.
Building Progress
The hole is big and deep. Major excavation is complete. Waiting on rebar to be bent and delivered. Then comes laying of footers and pouring of concrete. After concrete steel will be delivered. Then we start going up! Like in our Christian life preparing the foundation is tough and hard work. It takes a while to prepare for a good and solid building to rise into the sky.
Construction workers have been diligent and exercised great caution. No one has been injured to date. We are thankful to God and appreciative of those who are working to help us prepare for a more powerful future.
Fine Arts Ministry
Pastor Javaris Wright and April send a report of excellent progress in the first three weeks of serving a congregation in South Georgia. Attendance is averaging about 100. Here at Covenant Tonya and Brandon Scott are doing a wonderful ministry leading those who faithfully serve on the music team and worship. We are blessed!  We are grateful.
In October we will host Paulus Wibowo and his son who represent more than 80 mission organizations in Indonesia. We have been a part of this ministry since the 1990's. I was hosted by the Wibowo Family in Indonesia in 1996.
Fall Festival
Because of construction and safety issues we are putting a "pause" on the Fall Festival. As an alternative we are creating more events for the congregation. For example, this Wednesday, August 30 everyone is invited to Penn Park (just half a mile from Covenant Church on Rio Road) at 6 PM for a family time---all ages---
of food and fun.
Life Groups
Several new Life Groups are forming. Please check website for a location near you. Perhaps you will pray about hosting or facilitating a Life Group in your neighborhood. Please contact Davinahbare@gmail.com
New Opportunity for Fathers and Sons
The first Wednesday of September a men's class with video and discussion will begin. Hopefully, men will bring their son(s) or a young man they are teaching Christian values. This is part of our determined family emphasis.
I am deeply grateful to the Pastoral Staff and Elders who are working diligently to serve congregational needs and help us to navigate the construction program.
I am also deeply grateful to our prayer warriors!
Much Love
