It’s Monday
Yesterday was an awesome day of worship and fellowship. My heart rejoices for the goodness of God and His favor. This is a season of diligent ministry, prayer and God’s favor. We are pressing with all energy and enthusiasm to create optimal circumstances for the Holy Spirit to open doors of evangelism and discipleship. I have asked God for men and women to step to the front in leadership.
Today was challenging for me. My personal computer was attacked by a virus. Jon Wells and Austin Sersen were kind to spend hours hunting down and eliminating the virus. It is 8 PM and I am writing this letter to you.
Wish I could have been at Covenant tonight. VBS is in process. WOW! The excitement of volunteers is off-the-chart. A subway has been designed….it vibrates….bells…whistles…for 35 seconds. Then kids get off and are in the land of….well…they are in the land of China tonight. Our Indian congregation is hosting the children to the culture of India. African, Bhutanese/Nepalese, Spanish, and Burmese will host the next four nights as children get on the subway in New York City (stage of Covenant) and get off in countries around the world!
I am so proud of our youth leaders.
Next Sunday Dr. Nebayosi, a physician/Bishop from Nairobi, Kenya will be preaching in both morning services. This will be their last Sunday before returning home after a year of Fellowship research with the University of Virginia.
July 3 Dr. David McDonald will lead a celebration of America during Bible study hour. Last year was such a terrific success the call has been for a repeat. Don’t miss this special event.
After church on July 3, Laila and I will retreat to my family homeplace in North Carolina---taking 7 grandchildren to raft down rivers…swim in mountain fish ponds, etc. In September our eldest grandson, Lee, leaves for the Marines.
Hannah Capacillo will lead Motivational Gifts class college/career Bible class beginning the second Sunday of July.
We are in the process of installing outside stairs to the teen room. The entrance foyer to our worship building is getting a redo. And we are also improving the hallway to pastors’ offices.
Last week Danny Bare led a team to solve a problem with a water drain. Ernie Deomampo gave wise counsel. For about $500 we may have saved thousands of dollars! No problem with last night’s big rain.
Last week Laila and I were privileged to attend several days of campmeeting. Very refreshing. Also enjoyed seeing friend Jack Utterback, who is director of Ministry to Israel. His insights about what is happening in Israel…relating to prophecy…were thrilling.
We are so enjoying our Sunday dinners with different church families who are volunteering to cook. It is such a blessing to be able to commune with brothers and sisters in a leisurely atmosphere. Many thanks to Regina Smith who began this ministry and Darlene Bouch who has joined her to coordinate volunteers.
We continue to explore the hope of construction that will join our two buildings together. Pray with us. The cost of about one million dollars…while a lot…would greatly improve our ability to serve the congregation and community.
This morning Sharon Mason and I had a great privilege of meeting with a group of Afghan women who are leaders in their government. The Afghan women were deeply impressed with our testimony of offering hope to people based on the “God Factor”----every person is made by God with special talents…and we are only happy when we are doing what God made us to do. Another group of 20 Afghan leaders will visit with us in July.
Thank you for praying for me. My heart’s desire is to serve Our God and His people to the best of my ability.
I look forward to seeing you ….Wednesday Bible study…Saturday Men’s Breakfast With the Pastor…and next Sunday!....or in the Rapture…whichever comes first!
