The Right to Exist

Published by Pastor Bare

Covenant Church has been blessed. We have sought to stay true to the Word of God. We have searched the scriptures and chosen to allow the Lord to speak to us. We have carefully desired with prayer and fasting to fulfill the divine purpose of the Church.

In the early 1990's pastoral messages began to be marked with Holy Spirit insights that we should prepare for a time of hardship. We continued to grow and expand ministry. We enlarged our facilities, moving into a new complex in February 1996. With additional growth we architecturally planned for an expansion estimated to cost between $4 -$5 million. Drawings were nearing completion.

I can only attest to the Holy Spirit prophetically directing us. We decided to put the construction program on hold. It was not a stop progress decision. We chose to carefully remodel and re-construct some of our existing complex for greater efficiency and improved people flow.
Currently, an ad hoc committee is looking into the possibility of construction that would tie our two buildings together. The cost would be small compared to our original projection. We will as a congregation discuss the practicality of this expansion when information is appropriately detailed.

I write this letter to you as Senior Pastor because my heart is charged by the Holy Spirit to remind you that we are built upon holy faith and for a holy purpose. Jesus left a mandate called the Great Commission.

If we forget our calling to share the gospel we forfeit our right to exist as a charter from Jesus Christ. Imagine McDonalds restaurant trying to sell a Wendy's hamburger. The franchise would be pulled. The big arch would come down.

A world of hurting and lost people are waiting outside the church doors for someone to come to them and share hope and healing. We must never allow a spirit of selfishness to grasp us and draw us into seclusion of the sanctified and holy. If we are sanctified and holy we will feel the unction of the Holy Spirit to go and tell, to share, and to care.

Covenant Church is blessed. We have wonderful facilities and a wonderful location. But the greater blessing is that we have not forgotten our roots of prayer and Bible study. We have not forgotten our calling to fulfill the Great Commission. We have not forgotten where we came from and that others have not heard the gospel. We have not forgotten our duty to go out and share the hope that is in Christ.

We are here for just reasons. We are the people of God. We do not just exist, we exist for His glory.
