The God We Serve
Laila and I were walking in early morning. A wonderful Fall wind blew into our faces. It was difficult to hear.
Laila said: "Put your hands in front of your ears." The silencing effect was wondrous.
We talked. If we are evolutionary creatures, why did our ears not grow in front and point backwards? If man is millions of years old. If man were a product of times with huge monsters. If mammoth carnivores roamed the earth looking for meat. Would it not have made sense for the eyes to see forward, and the ears to hear backwards? Would it not have been reasonable in evolutionary terms to have one eye in front and another on the back? Perhaps evolution should have created man with a giant bubble eye in top of the head---an eye with 360 degree vision.
If it is true that ultimately man and animals developed with eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all facing one direction, does this not suggest an ulterior wisdom of the universe? If evolution did dictate a path of physiological development with certain consistencies, does this not defy hapless or accidental evolution? If logic and reason were fabric of evolution, then how can it be said that there is no prevailing wisdom?
If you concede that logic and reason influenced evolutionary development, whence did logic and reason develop? Who or what was behind logic and reason? Are logic and reason also products of accidental evolutionary development?
Whence the first living cell? What wisdom created the cell? What prevailed to cause life?
While pondering these issues ask yet another question--How is it possible that the sun, moon and stars rotate on a schedule that can be atomically timed in micro-seconds? How is possible that scientists can tell the exact time of sunrise five years from now? How is it possible that the moon can control tides of the ocean?
How is it possible that man goes out into the earth, drills, and finds water? How can rivers flow through beneath us?
We walk in the sunlight. We see. We hear. We taste the freshness of morning. Smell the fragrances carried on breezes. We feel the coolness of the air.
We walk and marvel that the living God who created all things also created us. He made us for His glory. He made us to sing. To work. To love. To play. To fellowship.
He, almighty God, made His Own Son in the image of man. Did Jesus not look like other people? Was He not a person with eyes, ears, nose and mouth forward?
God could have dropped Jesus onto earth in alien life form. He did not. God created Jesus in the image of man, because He had created man.
How wonderful to serve a God who is all-wise, all-knowing, and all-present. How wonderful to serve a God who thought out and planned all creation to be beautiful and sing praises unto Him.
Come to Jesus. Come and be comforted in the presence and power of Our Lord who gathers His people in fellowship with promise of eternal life. Trust the wisdom of God to guide you. He knows the way. He will make sure you make it Home.
We serve the Living God.
With love,
Pastor Bare
