December Is Here
And I am excited! Capable Covenant leaders and their teams are preparing wonderful celebrations of the Birth of Christ who has “come to seek and to save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10).
Patty Perkins and team will present our first live nativity. Miniature animals will be present. Costumed actors will represent the Christmas Story with music, narration, and a place for prayer. This event will happen on the following dates: December 15th-18th, 22nd-23rd, and 24th. Please note that the last presentation will end just before Christmas Eve service.
Christmas Eve service has become a favorite. Attendance has grown steadily, with community persons joining us for this time of honoring Our Lord Jesus. Please note we start promptly at 6 PM and end at 7 PM.
Angela Raker and team are presenting a children’s drama. With fine actors and the charm of children we will have our hearts warmed in the Spirit of Christmas. Dramatic presentations by our children have always been excellent and well-attended.
We have just completed serving as the host site for Franklin Graham Operation Christmas Child. A total of about 4,000 boxes were prepared to be shipped around the world. Many churches cooperated with the Shoebox ministry.
On December 18 Marianne Tolley will assist friends from St. Anne’s Belfield School in presenting a Christmas give-away at HOPE Community Center. Last year more than 1200 persons were blessed with clothes, toys, and food. Persons from St. Anne’s are donating $5,000 to make this event possible, and they are providing volunteers for the day.
Tim Sersen and team will present a cantata during our December 12th Sunday morning worship. Additional voices are joining with our sanctuary choir for this special presentation.
Mike Kneller and John Wachori are working diligently to improve sidewalk and parking lot lighting. Their talent, expertise and good nature are a blessing. The improved lighting will greatly enhance access areas.
New Year’s Eve will host two services. The first will be 7-9 PM in the main sanctuary. This is a candlelight service of reflection, celebration, and prayer. The 11 PM service ends with a meal after praying in the New Year.
Zenas Choi and the youth team will host—in cooperation with other churches—a New Year’s celebration of joy and fellowship in the gymnasium. This event is crafted for ministry to teens.
Pastor and Laila will be hosting 8 events in their home during the Month of December. Sign-up sheets will be in the lobby. Up to 40 persons for each event. You must sign up. Please note times are early morning Saturday, and Saturday and Sunday late afternoons, and we’ve even added a midweek night event! Directions and instructions are available at sign-up table in the main lobby—which means the invitation is open to all.
Martin Li and team will host multiple trans-cultural fellowships of worship and other activities. You are invited to the Hindi, Burmese, and African meetings weekly and for special occasions.
Bettie Christian and team will keep us focused on prayer and caring. The very litmus test of our character in Christ is written by communion of our hearts with Christ in sweet hours of prayer. It is not possible to see others as Christ sees them, if we do not spend time with Christ.
Pastor Bare will share a series of messages focused on the life of Jesus during the Month of December.
Never has the world more desperately needed to hear the wonderful story of Jesus and message of hope. Join with us as we encourage each other and seek to share the Good News with those who have not heard. We are excited about our journey together with Christ!
Much love,
Pastor Bare
