What is God Saying

Uncertain times. Challenges. Economic roller-coaster---maybe more like bungee jumping off a West Virginia highway bridge. Experts do not have the answer. Warren Buffet, thought by many to be the financial wizard of our era, has lost billions. Our government is printing money not worth the paper it is written on. Our grandchildren will pay it back.

Morals. Courtesy. Loyalty. Responsibility. Respect. Fidelity.

Who makes the clothes for our young ladies these days? Who removed the boundaries of chastity and virginity? How did we alter the landscape to make living together not married equal with marriage? Where did this sudden wave of same-sex marriage come from?

What is God saying? Is there a word from the Lord? Is heaven silent in these times? Are our prayers not being heard? Is God doing anything? Are there yet faithful? Is there a word from the Lord?

Or, has God said, "If you can't lick them, join them?" Has God wearied with lust and carnality until He has adjusted his Word to accommodate the values of man?

"Samuel, we want a king?" the Children of Israel said.

"You don't really want a king?" Samuel responded.

"Yes, we want to be like other nations who have a king," they pressed.

"I will ask God," Samuel told them.

God said: "Give them a king. Tell them when they have a king he will have their sons and daughters. His kingdom will be about his glory at the sacrifice of the people."

Samuel told the people what God said. It did not matter. They insisted on a king.

Our day is similar to the cry of the Israelites for a king. Our world cries out for pleasure, to be free, for our bodies to have unrestrained pleasure, and for gods that play with us without requiring sacrifice.

What is God saying?

He is speaking. He is pouring out His Spirit. There is a mighty revival in our world. There is a growing number of people in all nations who are hearing the Spirit calling us into the sanctum of holiness. There is a call for us to renew our covenant, to return to prayer, to revisit the urgency of the Great Commission, and to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.

There is a word from the Lord for His people to come together, to repair the walls, to work together, and to put up the gates that signify holiness unto the Lord. There is a word from the Lord that will be a purifying fire to purge out the dross, to separate out the chaff, and to remind all of us that the glory belongs to Our God.

We have an assignment. We are to seize the moment. We are to seize God. We are to grasp our mission with divine urgency. Night will come. While it is day we must work.

I remember as a boy of about age 9 working the hayfields with my two older brothers. We were playing. Having a good time. Grandfather Miller came upon us with surprise. He paused, looked at the sky, licked his finger and held it into the air and said: "Boys, cut out the nonsense and get this hay up. It is going to rain!"

I wanted to laugh, but knew not to. There was not a cloud in the sky. Out of fearful respect for Grandfather we went to work with gusto. About two hours later as we were finishing clouds rolled in and a terrific storm soaked the fields.

I do not know when Jesus will come. Soon, I believe. Soon, I hope. His coming is our best hope. Meanwhile, God is saying, "Get the harvest in!"

My question to you is: "What are you doing to get the harvest in?"

If we all work together we can win so many more people to Jesus.

Let us work until He comes...
