Time Will Pass. Will You?
The student frequently looked at his watch, as if hoping the class would soon be over. The professor quietly observed the student's repeated actions and finally remarked to the student: "Time will pass. Will you?"
The clock ticks. The clock brought us to the Year 2000. The hype was pure awful. Books were written about how computers had been designed to end in 2000 AD. Supposedly, nuclear bombs controlled by computers could be released at midnight of New Year's Eve 2000. Supposedly, all computers could crash. Supposedly...oh, there were nightmare scenarios!
Then we came to 9/11. It was a memorable event. It is etched in the history of the United States. We had thought we were the generous granddaddy of the whole world. We had thought that Americans were the world's heroes. We were the liberators. We conquered Germany and Japan, rebuilt their infrastructure, policed them for free while they became world economies, built them hospitals, roads, schools. And gave it all back to them virtually free
We stormed the Beaches of Normandy, sacrificing American blood by the tens of thousands. We helped liberate France, only to have France spit in our eye
We had a bout with Libya and made clear that we thought Libya was acting "out of school." What does that matter?
We could have won in Vietnam, except for the white-glove politicians in D.C. who insisted that war should be fought by playground rules. We came home to lick our wounds. Listed 50,000+ names on stone for a monument. Now we are seeking dialogue with Vietnam.
We still have a truce with North Korea. We cannot make up our minds whether they are the arch-enemy or a mischievous cousin. We threaten, while we palaver, all the while shipping grain or fuel or something to help out the people of North Korea.
Americans are eternal optimists. With sixty-percent of the world's wealth, we have spoiled ourselves into thinking God likes us better than others. We do not have the arrogance of the British, French and Germans to say "God destined us to rule the world." As Americans we profess a disdain for royalty, though we love stories of the same. We flourish best under a philosophy of "Every man to his own."
Foolish thinking this is. In truth, every man to his own is anarchy. Every man to his own is Judges 23:25, "In those days there was no king in Israel, and every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Such a state is lawlessness. Law is abandoned when individuality rules.
But Americans press on. We are convinced that if all the world were like America ours would be a better world. We fail to see that about one billion people follow ALLAH as a higher priority than the flag of red, white, and blue. The Law of Isalm demands loyalty without question. He who follows Allah must be willing to die for ALLAH. He who follows ALLAH must be willing to do whatever it takes, i.e., lie, steal, kill, to advance ALLAH.
Oh, I know there are moderate followers of Islam. However, where are they to stand up and deny, repudiate, and speak out against the radicals. No, My Friend, a friend of ALLAH is either committed to ALLAH or in judgment of hell fire. Read the Koran. Read the prophets of Islam. Ask Islamic scholars. I have.
There are about a billion Hindus. More than 30,000,000 gods in Hinduism. None of the 30,000,000 includes Jesus.
We march to November 4, 2008. We will elect a President of the United States. Doomsday will not come. What will happen at its worst will be a slow slide of America for the United States of Europe to take a stronger military, political, and economic role in world affairs. Unless we arrest our falling away from God, we will become an increasingly pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-selfish nation of people who were founded to be a Christian nation.
We will in our carnality weaken our churches, while we watch Islamic mosques and Hindu shrines increasingly dot our landscape. We will play while the devil ensnares us with "hate" laws that will handcuff preachers in their pulpits or put them behind steel bars.
Yes, unless Jesus comes or we individually die, we will all be here November 5, 2008. The larger questions remain: Where will we be with Jesus? Are we saved from our sins? Are we committed to take up our cross? Are we willing to serve Our Lord in the beauty of holiness?
I have looked at the rewards systems of all other major world religions. None of them promise what Jesus promises. None of them can deliver like Our Jesus. I choose Jesus. Time will pass. Will you be saved?
