2010 Mission Conference

Published on March 2, 2010 at 8:36 PM by Covenant Staff

Wed. March 17 - 6:30 PM

Our own Jim Perkins, who was part of the first-on-the-scene Fairfax rescue team to Haiti, will speak on his trip there, the needs of the people, his work in the disaster zone, and the effect it has had on his life.  We have asked him to share as the Lord directs.

Saturday, March 20 - 5:00 PM Annual Mission Banquet!!!

Guest speakers Lovell and Virginia Cary are veteran missionaries who were in a car traveling from the airport into the city of Porte-au-Prince during Haiti's earthquake.  A wall fell on the car, and the driver was killed.  The Carey's and fellow missionary Lloyd Frazier were spared, compelling them to share the story of the devastation and yet God's love and provision for them and the people of Haiti.  They will have insights on what we can do to bless our fellow Christians in Haiti, and to reach out to the lost, crippled, and dying. Special music will be provided by our Hindi fellowship.

Bring your international dishes (please have them at the church by 4:45) and dress in your native clothing, or ethnic clothing of your choice!  Parts of the evening will be filmed by Church of God World Missions Communications Director Grady Murphy to inspire other churches in their mission endeavors. Dessert will be provided by the church.

Sunday, March 21

Guest speakers in both morning services.

Guest speakers in all adult Sunday Bible Study classes.

You are also encouraged to wear ethnic clothing on Sunday morning!

Special Mission activities for children will happen during all services, Wed. through Sun.

Don't miss any of this weekend--Covenant Mission Conferences are a time of revival!

Hosting a Table at the Saturday Night Banquet

The duties of a table host are fun and minimal:

  • Arrive @ 25 minutes early (4:35) for the banquet, take your food to the kitchen area, and find your assigned table and the list of names on your table.  As these persons arrive, greet them warmly.  Enjoy the meal and program together!
  • At the close of the evening, people will be asked to fill out a faith promise card.  At that time you will distribute the cards and pencils in the large envelope on your table.  When they are filled in, collect them and put them back in the large envelope.  After dismissal, turn the envelope in to the designated person (announced by the MC).
  • If you wish to invite friends, church members, and family to fill up your table (8 people per table), that will be wonderful!  If you are unable to do so, we will assign persons to your table.
  • Either call the church office (973-5536) or next Sunday, March 14, turn in a card with the names of those to be seated at your table, or with a request that we assign persons to your table.
