Covenant began in 1952 with eleven members. Services were conducted in a store building on Hinton Avenue. The congregation built a new church on Altavista Avenue and moved into it in January 1955. Construction completed after the move included a parsonage and an annex with classrooms and a fellowship hall. In 1980 the congregation again relocated to an educational facility on Rio Road, with the new parsonage being completed a year later.
Pastor Harold L. Bare, Sr., assumed the pastorate in September of 1981, and construction began immediately on the sanctuary, additional classrooms and fellowship hall. Services in the new sanctuary were held on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1982.
Since 1982, ministries have steadily expanded. A strong emphasis on foreign missions predicated a growing missions effort for the local community. Ministries to the elderly, handicapped, imprisoned, etc., evolved. The burden for people enlarged to include other churches, retired ministers, American Indians, and pioneering new churches.
In March 1996 Covenant moved their worship services into a new 500-seat auditorium built adjacent to the older structure. The new facility also includes a full size Gymnasium and recreation area.
In 2007 Covenant Church celebrated 55 years of worldwide ministry, as well as 25 years of Pastor & Laila Bare’s leadership of the local body. We are grateful for the mighty blessings of God upon this congregation.
Today, Covenant Church averages about 800 in Sunday morning attendance. We are trans-cultural, crossing ethnic, racial, social and economic barriers. Our missions heart leads us to assist and encourage brothers and sisters around the globe.

* In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
* In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
* That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
* That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.
* That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
* In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.
* Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
* In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
* In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
* In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
* Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
* In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
* In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
* In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

The Book Of Acts - Gary Glover (Room 206)
The Book of Acts binds the Gospels, Letters and Old Testament all together. Without this bridge, we would be in the dark about much of our doctrinal and historical information concerning our Christian heritage. As we study the Book of Acts, we will see that it is an adventure story, a theological development document and a fast-paced history. We study verse-by-verse, and sometimes word-by-word, this treasure we call the Book of Acts.
Connection Points’ mission is to assist in the growth, integration, and retention of the church body through the ministries of Greeting, Ushering, Welcome Center, and the Ambassador Program.

We at Covenant Church believe that Children’s Ministry is not a daycare or childcare. Children’s Ministry is a ministry that is a safe and secure place where we believe children of all ages can learn about Jesus in a safe and sound atmosphere. Our newly remodeled nursery and preschool are structured so that the children can learn about Jesus while interacting with toys. Our Kids church which is for Kindergarten to 5th grade is formatted the same way as the adult service. The only difference is it is in kid’s language. We strive to provide a foundation for our little ones, teaching them that they can make us a difference. Some our outreaches and community events are Back to School Bash, Overnighter, Vacation Bible School, Birthday Party for Jesus, Playdates, Children’s Choir, Community Fall Festival, and more. Contact the church office if you would like more information on Children’s Ministry.
